Folkert Bloembergen is a seasoned chemical engineer with over 30 years of international experience in various Supply Chain and Commercial management roles across Poland, the Czech Republic, the USA, Germany, and the Netherlands predominantly in the Chemical Industry. Currently, he serves in as the Global Director of Business Processes, Trade Compliance and Master Data in the Supply Chain at LYB, where he leads teams across the world in shaping the organization to support new company strategies.

Jan Busch

VP Head of HSEQ Site NRW, Covestro Deutschland AG

Dr. Jan Busch is a senior leader in production and technology with over 15 years of experience in the chemical industry. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1977, he is currently Vice President for Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Permitting, and Quality Management (HSEQ) at Covestro’s largest production cluster in North Rhine-Westphalia. Leading a team of 40 specialists, he is responsible for ensuring safety and compliance across Covestro’s multiple chemical plants.

Previously, Dr. Busch held senior leadership roles at Covestro, including Vice President for Polycarbonate, TPU, and Films Technology, where he led global teams in driving process innovation, sustainability, and digitalization in production technology. His career spans technical and strategic roles, including Director of Hydrogenation and Nitration Process Technology and Plant Management for various chemical production sites.

Dr. Busch holds a PhD and a diploma in Chemical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, where he developed a strong foundation in process systems engineering. Fluent in German, English, and Dutch, he is also passionate about sailing, hiking, and traveling.

Vitor Simon

Manager Corporate Environmental Health Safety, Ardagh Group

Vitor Simon has 14 years of experience in Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and Risk Management, with a focus on loss prevention in multinational industries in the automotive and consumer goods sectors. He currently serves as a corporate-level leader for Brazil, overseeing strategic EHS initiatives and operations.

Vitor specializes in people and department management, implementing health, safety, and environmental management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001), and driving both proactive and reactive KPI performance. He has a proven track record in budget and CAPEX management, internal and corporate audits, and the successful deployment of EHS projects.

His expertise includes hazard identification, risk and impact assessments, training programs, change management (MOC), waste management, accident prevention and investigation, housekeeping inspections, emergency preparedness, fire protection (FSPP), and chemical management (GHS). He is also experienced in regulatory compliance, including environmental licensing processes (EIA, RIMA, PRAD), and critical safety program applications like Dupont, Hearts & Minds, and Safestart.

With international experience, including participating in global HSE meetings in Amsterdam and machine validation reviews in Denver, CO, Vitor demonstrates a strong capacity for cross-cultural collaboration. He also brings expertise in Business Continuity Management (ISO 22301 and 27000), ensuring operational resilience and sustainability.

Vitor is dedicated to fostering a strong safety culture through high-performance training programs and innovative EHS strategies.

Kenia Zavala

EHS Manager, Smurfit Westrock

Kenia Zavala is an accomplished Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager at Smurfit Kappa North America, based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. With a strong background in environmental engineering, which she earned from the Tecnológico Nacional de México (TecNM), Kenia specializes in managing and improving workplace safety, environmental compliance, and health standards in the industrial sector. Her expertise is instrumental in driving sustainability and safety initiatives within one of the leading packaging companies globally.

Jens Würdig

COX Project Manager / Global Energy Technology Manager, Clariant AG

Jens Würdig is an experienced energy and process management professional with over 15 years of expertise in energy efficiency, sustainability, and industrial process optimization. He currently serves as COX Project Manager and Global Energy Technology Manager at Clariant, where he oversees the global energy management system eWATCH. His role focuses on driving operational excellence, executing technical and digital improvement projects, and advancing corporate sustainability and digitization strategies.

Previously, Jens was Clariant’s Energy Manager for Germany, implementing energy efficiency projects and managing energy systems in accordance with ISO 50001. Before joining Clariant, he gained extensive experience as a Project Manager and Process Engineer at Air Liquide and Lurgi GmbH, specializing in chemical plant design, process safety, and advanced gasification technologies.

Jens holds a degree in Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering (Diplom-Ingenieur) from the University of Applied Sciences Jena (FH Jena). His professional expertise spans energy management, sustainability, project execution, and process innovation in industrial settings.
